The Terminator’s Solution: Hear No Evil, Click No Evil
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger promised to take on California’s problems but can’t even seem to deal with his own bad press.
The Terminator is sinking in a mudslide of plummeting approval ratings and press coverage that reveals a failed policy of scapegoating and power grabs. Instead of finding solutions that might create some positive press, his answer is to remove the stories from his web site.
Schwarzenegger has eradicated the Los Angeles Times and the San
Francisco Chronicle from his Web site, JoinArnold.com.
Readers will no longer see what the leading California newspapers have
to say in the section titled “What the media is saying about
the governor’s agenda.” That section is apparently reserved
for the shrinking pool of flattering stories.
“Facing unexpected criticism, Schwarzenegger’s camp has responded
as if the challenge is to deflate bad buzz on an upcoming movie,” reports
the Daily Variety.
Now that the reviews for Arnold are in, let’s hear what they have to say: Nearly 60 percent of Californians believe the state is "seriously off on the wrong track" and more than half blame Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger or other state elected officials for California's problems, according to Field Poll results released June 27.
Another Field Poll released a week earlier reported that only 37 percent of residents approved of Schwarzenegger’s performance in office.
