What Your Co-Workers Don’t Know Will Hurt Them

You probably know by now that Proposition 75 is the first step in an elaborate plan to take away your pension and health benefits. You realize that Governor Schwarzenegger, right-wing extremists and large corporations intend to use Prop. 75 to cripple employees’ ability to fight on a level playing field. Once they’ve successfully silenced employees, they plan to demolish the current pension system, come after your benefits and continue their crusade to strip you of all rights and benefits.

You understand this, but do your co-workers, friends, and family know the truth about Prop. 75?

Send a personal email to your co-workers, friends, and family; tell the real story about Prop 75.

Something you might not know: almost half of all voters will likely be voting on Prop 75 before the election. They’ll vote by absentee ballot, which they should have just received. Tell them to Vote No on Prop. 75!

Prop. 75 backers are misleading the public. All public and private employees in a union or association already have the right to opt out of having their fees used for political ends. The Supreme Court has ruled that no public employee can be forced to join a union and contribute to politics.

Behind the smoke and mirrors, Prop. 75 is really designed to strengthen the political power of large corporations, who already outspend us 24 to 1! Prop. 75 creates new limits on our ability to contribute to our organizations while large corporations can continue to make political contributions without shareholders’ permission. And once they’ve silenced working people, these companies will move to eliminate public workers’ pensions (already a ballot measure planned for June 2006), cutback on nursing staff ratios and attack prevailing wages.
